VE day 80th Anniversary

We celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE day, with special assemblies and work in classes. The children looked at photos of the VE day celebrations and listened to eyewitness accounts of the day. They also listened to wartime songs and sang the national anthem. Our School Council members, who helped to lead the assemblies, visited Woodbury Court to meet some of the residents who could remember VE day. They met Paddy, who is 103 and served in the Navy during WWII, and talked to other residents who spoke of their childhood experiences during the war. Older children took part in a 2-minute silence for the armed services and civilians involved in wars.

We will remember them.
